Canon EOS 1D mark II Manual

Download Canon EOS 1D mark II Manual - The Canon EOS 1D mark II 20.2 megapixel full-color CMOS sensor has been designed and built by Canon and has an excellent dynamic capture and provides low noise at high and low ISO values. In addition, this exceptional image sensor ensures convincing image quality in all shooting situations. The EOS-1D X Mark II is the first Canon full-format DSLR with Dual Pixel CMOS AFT technology, which can now be used with all EF lenses. The Movie Servo AF focusses even with 4K video with high precision and a movie function with extremely high picture frequencies (Full-HD with 120 B / s for slow-motion pictures) is also available. In Live View mode and with video capture with Dual Pixel CMOS AF, which covers 80 percent of the image field, the focus point can be selected via touchscreen to create soft focus transitions.

The Canon AI Servo AF III + is equipped with a new AF algorithm that, together with the EOS iTR (Intelligent Tracking and Recognition) system, improves the tracking sensitivity in those scenes where a subject often moves suddenly. This makes the focus even more precise even in extremely difficult situations. In order to ensure the extremely high image rates and the fast and precise AF of the camera, it is imperative that the mirror moves virtually without a backlash and is returned as quickly and precisely as possible to its initial position. To achieve this, the EOS-1D X Mark II has two independent motors with high torque for the mirror and shutter. This allows such high recording speeds and simultaneously separates the two processes in such a way that they no longer influence one another. The motors, which drive the mirror and the shutter, are equipped with a floating bearing made of elastic material. This reduces both the noise and shocks that the photographer feels when recording.

With full exposure metering and AF tracking, the EOS-1D X Mark II can record up to 14 fps. Due to the extremely fast mirror mechanism, the photographer does not lose sight of the motif. If the camera is in the Live View mode, it can be increased up to 16 B / s, with the AF set to the level measured for the first image. This recording speed is available for both RAW and JPEG recording. This is made possible by special high-speed technologies for reading the sensor data and transferring it to the Dual DIGIC 6+ processor and the new mirror drive system.

For the first time on a camera of the EOS-1 series is integrated a GPS function, which is compatible with the globally positioned GPS satellites (USA), GLONASS satellites (Russia) and Quasi-Zenith Satellite Michibiki (Japan). The camera stores location data (latitude, longitude, altitude and coordinated world time (UTC)) in the metadata of the images. This is a very useful feature for agencies or photographers who want to select their images according to the exact shooting location or time. The GPS system is also capable of adjusting the camera time according to the data transmitted by the satellites. When the logger function is activated, the camera records the travel route, which can later be displayed with a map software.

The EOS-1D X Mark II is the first EOS DSLR, which is compatible with CompactFlash memory cards also with CFast 2.0 ™ cards. CFast 2.0 ™ cards are about the same size as Compact Flash, but have recessed contacts that make them much more robust and reduce the risk of the contacts bend. CFast 2.0 ™ currently provides a write speed of up to 440 MB / sec, three times faster than the fastest CF card (150 MB / sec) and up to 170 full-frame RAW images. The EOS-1D X Mark II has an RGB + IR measurement sensor with 360,000 effective pixels (1.404 x 990 - nearly SXGA + resolution). The data acquired by this sensor are used for multi-field measurement and for flash exposure measurement. The sensor also has IR pixels that detect infrared light and thus support the EOS function Automatic motor detection, which further optimizes AF performance. Together with the RGB pixels, the IR pixels also ensure the recognition of colors, brightness, and faces. In addition to the distance information, the algorithm also detects a subject based on color and facial information.
